Nixi was built by Hugh McLean at Renfrew in 1963. Her yard number was 4583 and her Registration at Greenock was number 305175. Mr McLean was one of the advisors to the £1000 Yacht competition judges.

Nixi has been in the same ownership for 22 years. Now based on the River Orwell she was first sailed on the south coast of England. She is regularly sailed to the west country from her east coast base.
